General administration:
The government through its order 356/2006/CAD dated 20-10-2006 reconstituted the General Council of the Akademi with Bharat Murali as Chairman and Prof P Gangadharan as  secretary. Vice chairman  Smt. Nilambur Aisha relinquished her post on 03-02-2008.

Fellowships and Awards:
Three fellowships and 19 awards were given to outstanding artistes. 21 veteran artistes were honoured in the Guru Pooja ceremony.

Professional Drama Competition:
was held at the Regional Theatre, Thrissur from May 16 to 25, 2007. The ten plays presented were 1) Achan Mikacha Natan by Irinjalakuda Communications, 2) Asthamikkatha Sooryan by KPAC, Kayamkulam 3) Aksharayudhdham by Brahmaputhra, Thrissur, 4) Kunkumappadathu by Souparnika, Venjarammoodu, 5) Kottayathu Thampuran by Aksharamala, Thiruvananthapuram, 6) Cheerondan by Chiranthana Theatres, Kozhikode, 7) Truth India TV Channel by Nila, Ochira, 8) Pirana by Sanghachetana, Kannur, 9) Meenam 16 by Vedavyasa, Kozhikode and 10) Snehasilpi by Sooryachetana , Thrissur.

Dr Vayala Vasudevan Pillai (Chairman), K M Raghavan Nambiar (Member secretary), K R Mohandas, V T Murali, Sanshya Rajan were the jury.
